Natural stone textures in 16K and 32K for 3D and archviz

Third Map is a library of photo-scanned natural stone textures for 3D artists, archviz studios and designers. Every texture is captured from a real stone slab and delivered in resolutions up to 32K, so a marble vein or a granite grain still reads at extreme close range. These are digital surface textures for rendering - real stone, ready to drop into your scene, not physical stone slabs.

The catalogue covers seven natural stone types (marble, granite, quartzite, travertine, limestone, onyx and dolomite) and hundreds of photo-scanned textures, across a wide range of colours and all scanned in-house from genuine stone. No AI. No procedural shortcuts.

Every collection is captured slab by slab rather than generated, so the material you place in a render is the genuine article, not a synthetic approximation.

Browse stone textures by colour

The catalogue can also be browsed by colour, so you can pull the exact tone a render needs - black, white, grey, cream and beige, brown, green and more. Colour collections are cross-material, so a single tone can show marble, granite and quartzite side by side and makes it easy to keep a scene's materials consistent.

Ultra high resolution: 16K and 32K photo-scanned detail

Every texture is photo-scanned and offered in 8K, 16K and 32K. At 32K, a full slab is captured in enough detail that macro shots and extreme close-ups stay sharp: the crystal in a granite, the vein in a marble and the banding in a travertine all hold up when the camera pushes in. For wide and mid shots, the lower tiers keep files light without losing the look, so you pick the resolution that fits each shot instead of paying for detail you will not see.

Built for photorealistic 3D and archviz rendering

The textures are 8-bit JPG files, optimised for PBR workflows and photorealistic results in any render engine - Blender, 3ds Max, V-Ray, Corona and Unreal. Drop a texture onto a material, plug it into your base colour and it behaves the way your pipeline already expects, with no conversion step. Selected marble textures also have an optional ready-to-use V-Ray setup, sold as a separate add-on for V-Ray 6 and above; the base texture is bought separately.

Real photo-scanned natural stone, not procedural or AI

Every Third Map texture is a photo scan of a real stone slab. Nothing here is AI-generated or procedurally built - what you render is the actual grain, vein and colour of a natural stone, captured as it is. Because each scan is a unique slab, the textures are not seamless or tileable: no two repeat, so the character you see is the stone's own, not a tiling pattern stretched to fill a surface. Each scan captures a full slab, around 3000 x 2000 mm on average.

What resolution are the textures (8K, 16K, 32K)?

Every texture is available in 8K, 16K and 32K. 8K suits wide and mid shots and keeps files light, 16K is the sweet spot for most close work, and 32K holds detail for macro shots where the surface fills the frame. You choose the resolution per texture, so you can match the file size to the shot instead of buying more detail than a scene needs.

Which render engines do they work with?

The textures are optimised for PBR workflows, so they work in any render engine - Blender, 3ds Max, V-Ray, Corona, Unreal and more. You use them exactly as you would any colour map. Selected marble textures also have an optional ready-to-use V-Ray setup as a separate add-on (V-Ray 6 and above); it is a material configuration for a specific texture, and the base texture is bought separately.

What file format do you get, and what maps are included?

Textures are delivered as 8-bit JPG colour maps by default, with 16-bit and 24-bit available on request. Because the scanned stone is polished and smooth, the surfaces carry no natural relief, so normal maps are not included - the detail lives in the high-resolution colour itself. That keeps the files simple to use across engines while still giving you the full grain and vein at up to 32K.

Are the textures real photo scans or AI/procedural?

They are real photo scans. Each texture is captured from an actual natural stone slab, with no AI and no procedural generation. The veining, grain and colour are the real stone's, and because every scan is a one-of-a-kind slab the textures are not tileable - the reason the result looks like stone and not like a repeating synthetic pattern.

How does licensing work for commercial and archviz use?

Each texture comes with two licence tiers, chosen at checkout and set by revenue rather than project type: a Personal licence for creators or teams under AUD $100k in revenue or funding over the last 12 months, and a Professional licence above that threshold. Commercial, archviz and client work is covered royalty-free under both.
